Sunday Lunch

"For lo, the winter is past,
the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come."
                                              -- Song of Solomon

 Our first outdoor luncheon of the year was inspired by blooming red buds and a verdant pasture.
While birds sang in the tip-tops of trees,
my husband helped me carry the old plank table to the edge of the lawn.

Outdoor meals are magical, but they can give you a cardio-workout. All that toting back and forth can work up an appetite. As always, I take the easy route by loading the tableware and linen into big plastic dish tubs. The tubs go into Bandwidth's old red wagon.

Like my mother always says, "Nature is the best decorator."

The Hitchcock chairs were gifts from my mother and late father. They found the chairs in Perdido Key, Florida, and brought them home to Tennessee.

My husband got into the spirit of tablescaping today,
and he added wildflowers to the table's bottom rack.

He also brought petit fours from the grocery.

For a punch of color, I placed pink Easter candy inside the vase.

The white dishes are mixed patterns by American Atelier.

I found pink linen place mats at the local antique mall--six for $8.
The napkin rings came from Pottery Barn (ages ago).
